Democratic Supervision in Education
While it is quite obvious that education is one of the most significant factors that will help to pave the way for a brighter and better future, it is often quite difficult for major ruling bodies and figures of influence to be able to decide upon which elements should be allowed to be the major points of influence for today’s education. This often ties in to what degree the influences of politics should be involved in our educational systems. This also leads to the issue of democratic supervision in education.
There are several different tiers of influence that are possible for democratic supervision in education, and the degree to which the democratic principles are involved is often one of the more debatable elements in regards to this overall argument. Some major figures in the education field feel that there should be a much stronger degree of supervision under democratic figures to insure that some of the top democratic issues in education are upheld. This includes making sure that there is an open and free flowing curricula that students and teachers are able to take advantage of.
Democratic supervision in education would work to insure that the students would be given the fair opportunity to make legitimate choices in regards to fundamental aspects of their lives. This approach fused with a democratic supervision would also maintain a relationship between teachers and students that foster an enriching collaboration, one where students not only learn from their teachers, but also one where teachers would learn from their students as well.
