I am going to Universal Orlando in 2 weeks and I always research my trips beforehand. This book has everything I needed. I know now what rides/attractions to put on my priority list and those I can skip. I really loved the info. on all the eating places in both parks. I know where we're eating. I've read the whole book and feel very comfortable and prepared for my trip with my daughter. Thanks Kelly.

Spot on recommendations regarding touring plans of the theme parks, largely spot on with ride/show reviews. A "Must Read" before going. Probably the best Amazon "purpose book" purchase that I've ever made.

5 out of 5 stars A must read before a visit to Universal Orlando   June 16, 2010

It's been years since my last trip to Universal Orlando so I dediced to search out a book that gave all the details. After looking at many books, this stood out as the best of the bunch and as a bonus it only features Universal! I read it cover to cover and found that it gave the perfect amount of detail on the rides and shows. My major concern was restaurants - why? I am a fussy eater. This book went into nice detail on where to snack and where to find some higher quality food. Also loved that it also shared some of the more secluded parts of the parks to escape the crowds.

what I think will be the most useful for readers is that by reading up ahead of time, you will find what you must see and then can plan your visit more carefully. Also think this would be great reading for the family travelling with teens who can read about their trip beforehand.

I read many travel books and found this one to be one of the better in terms of solid info. Worth every penny.

If you plan to visit Universal you should read this book or something similar. This book is the standard "what is Universal" book you might expect. It follows the pattern of the many Disney books. It reviews rides, attractions, restaurants, hotels and such in the parks. It will give you the basic information of what to expect.

You will need to plan out your trip to the park. The crowds will force you to make that plan. That information in the book will help you decide for yourself if you want to stand in the line to see the attraction. You will also learn some neat facts about the rides to that enhances ride for you. It will also help you learn about the hidden attractions that are good but not on the main drag. There are a few all throughout the park. An example is the discovery section in the Jurasic part of Isles of Adventure. You will miss that unless you know it is there. There are a few others scattered throughout the park. This book tells you about it. The down side of the book is that the pictures are in black and white. The park is really something to the eye. Several things are built like a movie set. Those things don't come out in a black and white picture.

Over all if you are going to the park, buy the book. You will get more out of the book if you read it.

1 out of 5 stars ruined trip   May 2, 2010

This book looked like a great review. However, his suggestion was that if you had a fast pass you could do the rides at anytime you wanted. So, we stayed at one of the universal hotels (and got nine room keys for one room) and did a casual trip around the park. The passes worked great. UNTIL we got to the Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket which the kids were looking forward to. 2 hour wait. The fast pass does not (and never has) worked at this ride.

Thus, this book ruined our vacation.
