Product Description This opening fold-out contains a general map of Hawaii to help you visualize the way the islands are explored in this guide, and 4 pages of valuable information, handy tips and useful addresses.
Discover Hawaii through 8 sections and 8 maps
Oahu - Waikiki Oahu — Honolulu Historic Center Oahu — Suburban Honolulu and Eastern Oahu Oahu — North Shore Big Island — Hilo Big Island — Kamuela and Kailua-Kona Maui Lanai, Molokai, Kauai
For each district there is a double-page of addresses (restaurants — listed in ascending order of price — cafés, bars, and stores) followed by a fold-out map for the relevant area with the essential places to see (indicated on the map by a star *). These places are by no means all that Hawaii has to offer but to us they are unmissable. The grid-referencing system (A B2) makes it easy for you to pinpoint addresses quickly on the map.
Transportation and hotels in Hawaii The last fold-out consists of a transportation map and 5 pages of practical information that includes a selection of hotels.
A thematic index lists all the sites and addresses featured in this guide.

| Customer Reviews: More than just travel guide filled with lots of text. December 25, 2007 Michael A. Graham (Casper, WY USA) I am very pleased with this book for a number of reasons. Many other books are just too big to carry around with you and take up too much space in your luggage. This book is very compact, which makes it highly portable. in addition it is more than just another travel guide, as it is jammed packed with map after map after map. These maps fold out and cover almost every part of the Hawaiian Islands. Also this guide has listings for such things, as restaurants, museums, and shopping. Out of the three travel guides that I have boughten or received on Hawaii this is one that most likely will accompany me on my upcoming trip to Hawaii.
Good Overview/Snapshot February 8, 2008 ModMom8 (Northern California) We were only going to one island (Maui), but this is a great, quick overview of all the islands. I was surprised at the hidden "gems" the guide found (for example, it mentioned Sam Sato's for lunch). It doesn't go into great detail, or offer "suggested itineraries" like other guides, but it's a good starting point.
Great Guidebook With Easy-To-Read*Maps*! August 29, 2009 Alex Honda (Los Angeles, CA USA) The KNOPF MAPGUIDES: HAWAII Book was really helpful in figuring out what to see and do on my recent vacation in Hawaii.
This was my first time going and the Knopf Mapguide, along with The Out Traveler: Hawaii for LGBT interests and the Internet, help plan a pretty decent itinerary for our group.
The KNOPF MAPGUIDE: HAWAII is a small book with foldout maps of different areas in Hawaii. It has sections on Oahu, Big Island, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kauai. We went to Oahu and it broke down the different districts like Waikiki, Honolulu Historic Center, Suburban Honolulu & Eastern Oahu, and the North Shore.
Each section has an easy to read map and contains suggestions on where to eat, drink, shop, and must see attractions. There are small color pictures of some of the places, so you'll know what to look for, and the small sized book will fit into a handbag or backpack making it easy to take with you while exploring. The book also provides helpful information on pharmacies, business hours, state holidays, historical key dates, indigenous foods and entertainment--totally preparing you for your vacation in Hawaii.
The pages and cover are of heavyweight paper and feel very durable. Even though the guide I purchased (not from Amazon) was updated in 2007, the places listed in the book were still there in Oahu (at least the places that we visited). I would highly recommend the KNOPF MAPGUIDES: HAWAII book for anyone traveling to the Island Paradise. And I will definitely be buying other KNOPF MAPGUIDES for future trips to other places.
Just got back from Oahu... December 26, 2009 cynicalgirl (San Antonio, Texas) ...and this little guidebook is dog-eared from use! Fabulous fold-out maps, easy to read, with places to see highlighted for easy reference. Includes suggestions on where to eat and shop, depending on the area you're touring in. Includes all of the islands, but Oahu's maps cover each major section of the island and make trip planning easier for tourists like me who "do-it-yourself" by renting a car instead of taking pre-planned tours. Small, compact size was easy to carry around in my purse, and inconspicuous enough to not shout "hey, here's a tourist!" whenever I pulled it out for a quick consultation. I really loved this little book, and will recommend it to any of my friends who are lucky enough to travel to those beautiful islands in the future.
